Family Days Out in West Wales

A short drive from Cellan is Cenarth Paintball Games, which offers Outdoor Laser Combat games for anyone over the age of 11. If you stay for the whole day you even get a free lunch!

Llain Activity Centre at Llanarth, near the coast, offers the opportunity to scare yourselves abseiling, or get lost orienteering, or get wet, kayaking, and many other similarly exciting activities. Its a popular destination with local school children.

If Theme Parks are your thing, the place to go is Oakwood the No.1 Family day Out in Wales - see for yourselves. For wet days, they also have an indoor zone at CC2000 where you can test yourselves against the Crystal Maze or go Ten Pin Bowling.

Close to Tenby is the award-winning Folly Farm & Zoo. A fun day out for all the family with lots of activities as well as farm and zoo animals.

At Llandysul, Llandysul Paddlers can offer you a variety of canoeing opportunities on the Teifi river - no age or ability level limit. Down towards the mouth of the Teifi, Adventure Beyond offer half and full-day trips on the Teifi.

Somewhat less energetic, but no less interesting are the Dolaucothi Gold Mines at Pumpsaint. Most of our visitors go there and everyone seems to come away with some gold!

The Cardigan Heritage Coastline offers many opportunities for boat trips to see the dolphins and other sea-life which populate Cardigan Bay. Dolphin Survey Boat Trips provide lots of information on the wildlife in the bay as well as trips from New Quay.

Train journeys are another feature of this part of West Wales. Although we no longer have many train links, there are several narrow gauge railways. The Vale of Rheidol railway at Aberystwyth offers picturesque journeys to Devil's Bridge. At Henllan, the Teifi Valley Railway is geared towards younger children.

The Gwili Railway, near Carmarthen, is the only steam standard gauge railway in South West Wales and is run by rail enthusiasts. It is often used for filming period Television dramas.

There is lots of information about local activities in the Holiday Cottages. Guests can now check out websites for last minute information through the Internet Channel on the Wiis in the cottages.
