Art & CultureThis part of West Wales is famous for its gold. You can visit the National Trust owned Gold Mine at Dolaucothi and pan for your own gold. If that seems like too much hard work, you can visit the Gold Centre at Tregaron and see some beautiful locally made jewellery as well as an excellent Art Gallery showcasing local artists. Tregaron is also the location for the Talbot Hotel, which, in conjunction with Cambria Arts, features live music from around the world. There are many local artists with their own galleries, which are well-worth a visit. The Makers Mark, in Newcastle Emlyn is a good source for local artists' work, as is the Custom House in Cardigan. Newcastle Emlyn is also worth visiting if you are interested in shopping for antiques and collectables. Nansi Hemming is a local woodcarver, based in Llanfair Clydogau. You can see many items of her work displayed in Longwood Community Woodland, a local wood in Llanfair, or by visiting her at her studio. Llanfair Clydogau, our neighbouring village, is the location for the annual Women in Tune Music Festival, which is a showcase for female musicians and artists from all over the world. It is held at the end of August and it is going from strength to strength.
